May 2005

Hello Members:

Our first trip of the year was held May 13-15th at Spring Lake Lodge in South River.

As we arrived our trusty friends came out to play too! ...the dreaded BLACKFILIES! Despite our annoying companions we had three days of laughter, fun and awesome riding.

Our fearless leader Al took us through diverse levels of terrain which at timeClick here for all of Mark's great pics.s, was worse than extreme. The "Doctor's" polaris, as we found out, doesn't float. Jeff had to endure the mud entrenched river which caused a great outburst of joy to see his machine get somewhat dirty! Dwight and Brian made valiant attempts to cross a mud bog-hole but, without the trusty help of Bill's towing abilities they would still be handlebar deep. Merrill was able to "walk" through the mud bog-hole taking title status as the first man/machine to do so in 10years. Ron completed the day while riding with two inflated tires, the others not! John was chastised as being a wimp as Kathy plunged through mud and water and he avoided or went around them. Neil was able to maneuver through even the worst spots while still keeping his passenger upright! Debbie did an outstanding job riding the rough and tight terrain (better than some of our male companions) and Mark was our Steven Spielberg of photography with his digital action shots.

Spring Lake Lodge was a wonderful setting for this fun filled weekend and would recommend other ATV enthusiasts to have this awesome experience.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Emily "the chef" who prepared our delicious meals, Al our guide and Ted's generous hospitality.
